Midicircuit v2 Is Here
As I mentioned in my previous post Midicircuit - The Story So Far, we had been working for a long time on the v2 of Midicircuit but as of today: it's finally out and ready for the world to see!
What's new in v2
With v2, Midicircuit went from being a tool for learning hardware instruments to a beginner friendly DAW you can take anywhere.
The core of this is Playgrounds: record drums, melodies, bass, even audio — then export and share. Think piano roll, MIDI clips, drum pads, sequencing — all the DAW essentials, in your pocket.
These same elements also power what we call Circuits — interactive lessons built from real production tools, not toy versions of them.

Behind the launch
I am always very anxious when launching. Launching is not just pressing a button and it's done. There are so many things to get done like: finishing the features and getting them ready for production, preparing assets, updating website, writing guides, making promotional content, contacting press, and so on.
It takes a high level of preparation and focus — at least here at Yonko Level. I think it is also important to go through all those steps because after all, we've put so much work and love into the project that not delivering it in the best way we can, wouldn't do it justice.
As someone who releases music too, I have the same struggles so the feeling is often familiar and I am getting used to it. With every launch I gain a bit more confidence on what steps to take and every launch is an opportunity to learn, celebrate all the effort until that moment and get some perspective from the world.
Our first merch items!
A few days before the launch I headed to Tilburg, in the Netherlands, to meet my friend Délcio Baptista — the Designer behind Midicircuit and a long time friend. We had been planning and working together on some limited edition pins for Midicircuit to celebrate the launch. Délcio was handling large part of this but we still needed to get the packaging ready.
Although a bit last minute we managed to find a shop to print the cards where the pins stick to. The colours weren't quite the same as I had visualised on my devices but overall it looked good. We can always learn and improve on the next one. As usual, I love doing these kind of hands on projects with Délcio.
I think the pins came out really nice! You can find them in our Shop.

What's next
The app has been out now for a week or so and I have gathered already some feedback. It's clear people are really excited for Circuits. Its return is due some time this year but with the feedback it's clear I will need to prioritise it higher. Another big thing is Sounds. Having good sounds is one of the key things for an enjoyable experience when making music — specially in a digital environment. I see this as having a beautiful, tuned and good sounding guitar for example. You just feel compelled to use it more and make better music with it. I think we can do better in this space so it's very much top of mind right now.
Midicircuit is out now on the App Store. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
